How Many Star Wars actors are in this?

I could identify two easily. General Veers from Empire Strikes Back and the guy who said "TK421, why aren't you at your post?"

This movie was made a few years before Star Wars and both in England.

Anymore?

reply

Julian Glover (Veers) and Kenneth Colley (Admiral Piett) are in it. Didn't know about the Death Star fellow though.
Tom Chadbon is in it and he would later star with Julian Glover in Doctor Who "City of Death".
There are loads of great actors in this film.

Just about every movie or TV show produced in the UK seems to have someone connected to Doctor Who amongst it's cast and/or crew. Or at least it seems that way sometimes, especially when you read the credits given on each of the Doctor Who DVD's. I don't know if that's because of how small the British film/TV industry is, or if it's because of how long Doctor Who has been on. Probably a little bit of both (note also that similar connections can be made with EastEnders and Coronation Street).

Not Star Wars but another sci-fi connection, a blink and you'll miss it moment. As the ship leaves port, the social director (Roy Kinnear) hangs up a sign and has some banter with a workman

Workman: Have you come to amuse us?
Kinnear: No, I've come to watch you work.
Workman: That's a joke for a start!

The workman is Gareth Thomas, better known as Roj Blake from Blakes 7 (1978)!

He's identified in the closing credits as "Liverpool joiner", I think because later in the movie, there's that exchange between him and the steward about the Chelsea vs Liverpool football match. I saw his name in the credits and had to rewind to see if it was indeed Blake.

reply

Again, not Star Wars, but Lucasfilm related. The Indian Prime Minister from Temple of Doom plays the Indian steward.

reply

He's also in a much more serious role in Passage To India.
