That movie is much better than Oscar-winner 'Life is beautiful' (La vita

That movie is much better than Oscar-winner "Life is beautiful" (La vita e bella"). I can't say anything more, but that is my firm opinion. Sorry for my bad english, but that's the situation:) I am sorry about that I had not see the remake "Jacob, The Liar" with Robin Williams - I am sure that he is unique as always:)

I just bought "Jakob the Liar" (Peter Kassovitz, 1999) with Robin Williams and I haven't seen it yet. I checked IMDb and I found out it was a remake. I now have to get a DVD (if available) of the german original "Jakob, der Lügner" (Frank Beyer, 1975). I did see "Life is beautiful"/"La Vita è bella" (Roberto Benigni, 1997) again and realised it was more or less the same story or plot. So your comment has been very usefull to me, and no need to apoligise ;-) tnx (dankjewel).

Well, I can tell you righ away. I've seen all the three films and my opinion
is
a) Life is beautiful, storywise and all other items included, has nothing to do, not even from very far, wuith the EastGerman Film. Specially the spirit of it is basically Italian and the view of the Holocaust is different. And do not fotget, is a father and son story....Nothing like that in Jakob. You may not like the Benigni film..but that is another question. I think, anyway, it was a wonderful production
b) The Robin Williams is a very poor film. Not even Williams's great effort and brilliant acting can save it form the superficiality of the direction and the emptiness of the new script. Hollywood, as usual, likes a foreign film, remakes it and a big piece of s*** comes out steaming.
c) The esat german film, is a great story, incredible acting and brilliant direction. Nothing to compare with other films, you like them or not. So if you have to choose, take the latter...

and I am entitled to tell you that you are crazy! The performances of the Benigni and Cantarini were off the charts ... and the end of LIB is a total tear jerker. But why even compare them? They are two totally different stories and about two totally different things. BTW ... I think this had a magnificent ending.
