Poached eggs
Wasn't Marcie actually making poached eggs, rather than "egg soup"?
shareYou are SO right! That's what I just told my kids today when we were watching it.
shareRight about it being pached eggs. I first saw this at school when I was about 10 and came home cracking up about "egg soup". My mom asked what was so funny and I explained it to her. She replied "But that wouldn't be egg soup. It would be poached eggs". "How many eggs though?" I asked. "As many as you want". Even now though I still crack up at that part. It's the funniest part of the show.
shareThe idea of poached eggs has always been a weird one to me. I saw them make it like that in Julie and Julia, but this apparently also is what we make that for so many years I thought were simply fried eggs: You fry them in a hot frying pan until the whites are fried and popping, pour water in the pan, cover it with a lid, remove a few seconds later and if the yolks are coated over pink then they're ready.
shareBut Peppermint Patty is just a kid so what does she know of what Marcie was making other then her not being so smart with coloring the eggs.
