I saw this when i was 6

That was almost 10 years ago and it still haunts my sleep.

I bought this pen one hour before my bike was stolen. Why? What's the significance? I don't know!

Tell you what...though I've never sat through it start-to-finish (though I've seen enough of it through bits and pieces to consider having "seen" it), just the thought of the bloody TV TRAILER in 1977 (I was 11) still can sometimes bring nightmares to this almost-41-year=old military veteran!

I was real young when I saw it like 6 or 7 also, my dad and I use to watch all these scary movies when I was young though my mom didn't like that to much.

I guess you were born in 1966 darklighter-4(?). I've never seen the entire movie either, or really any of it, but I did see a very memorable trailer on TV from it in the 1970s during my childhood. I was born on March 5, 1968 (will be 40 in less than a month), and it seems it was 1977 I saw this TV trailer of it as well. But on here I saw it was released in the US in October, 1974 (when I was 6, in 1st grade). In this trailer, which I saw a few times within about a month on out house TV, it had a picture of the poster crib, and a narrator saying, as the crib slowly turned, that the Davies were expecting a baby. And there was only one thing wrong with the Davies' baby. Then he said, solemnly, "It's Alive!" and the title appeared on the screen. My mother was in the room once during this, and I asked what could be wrong with it if it was alive, and she remarked, confused, "I don't know". I later saw and read its VHS box in the mid 1980s after becoming a huge movie person, and realized this. I should probably watch it if its on DVD and I get this acess soon, if Jason Voorhees had no effect on me this wouldn't either, but was this the ame trailer you refer to here, and does anyone know if this movie was released in this country in 1974 or 1977?

I saw this movie when I was 9. I went to a double feature and "It's Alive" played first. I thought it was going to be a boring family drama when it began with the mother going into labor. Boy, was I ever wrong. This movie scared the crap out of me, almost literally. That night I almost broke my leg in a frantic attempt to get down the stairs, because I thought the monster baby was under my bed. This movie and "Don't be afraid of the dark" are the two movies that give me creeps even now, when I think about them. I even bought a DVD copy of "Don't be afraid of the dark" and still am to scared to watch it.

I'm a 44yr old military veteran.

I was in my early teens when I first saw this, I'm sure it's influenced my decision to become childfree. ;)

I remember being 11 and seeing the tv trailer and thinking,"How can they even show this on tv?" Seeing the film when I was 20 was less traumatic.

I must've been like 10 (maybe less) when I saw this on TV. I don't remember much of it, but at the moment it was sooo scary...

I was about 7 or 8. The 'Monster Baby' as I used to call it was one of the most fascinating and disturbing 'characters' in my early life imagery.

The movie was made in 1974 but was re-released in 1977 for some reason (thanks wikipedia!)so that explains the confusion about when we all saw it. I too was 10 or 11 at the time I saw it in the theater and it scared the bejesus out of me too. I can't believe it was only PG-rated back then, it should have been R-rated.

You saw it when you were 6?!?!

Jeez, Louise... you were young.

I saw it when it came out, and I was a mature 7 years old at the time.

Cheers...

Oh God, when I saw this thread, I just HAD to reply. I saw it when I was 10 in the theater (rated PG at the time). I was on a sleepover and my friend's parents dropped us off to see it. We sat front row and center. I kept my eyes covered during the scary scenes, screaming. I never even saw the baby full on. This was a BIG mistake. I am wildly imaginative, and the scenes I visualized were MUCH more terrifying than the movie could have ever been. I did not sleep a wink that night and was amazed that my friend did. When my mother found out she was furious!! When the commercial came on after that, I wouldn't even approach the t.v. to turn it off - I just closed my eyes and sang loudly to drown it out (remember the creepy "Rock-A-Bye Baby") that played?

This movie scarred me for years; I had recurring nightmares and would take running jumps to avoid having my feet close to the space under beds, etc. My mother considered psychogical counseling.

Eventually, I made myself see it on cable when I was 30 hoping it would take the teeth out of it - it did. Sorry for the long post; I just had to comment on a movie that so deeply affected me for years.

My mom took me to see this in the theaters when it came out, I was seven. I don't know why, but she took me to all the horror movies, from Jaws to Squirm.

i saw it at about the same age and it terrified me...seeeing it again as an adult it wasnt as scary.
but this is an excellent premise for a movie...if it was remade right it would be so creepy and scary, but no one does horror well anymore.
