It's pretty boring.

I saw this movie at the theater when it came out. I was 12. My brother and I thought it was the coolest thing we'd ever seen. I just recently got a DVD copy (an "Oh, my God!" gag gift from my brother) and watched it for the first time in 33 years and I was struggling to stay awake. It has kind of a twist ending but the journey is like watching paint dry. The best thing about it is seeing how hip and groovy young people were in 1973. Worth a look as a curiosity. It beefs up the "I" section of my DVD library.

You're not kidding. This movie was in with a 20-pack of science fiction movies I got for 9 bucks. This is the worst one I've watched so far. Most of them are at least amusing. This movie goes nowhere and does nothing. It's just a bunch of kids camping with a strange and lame last 5 minutes.

One reason the movie seemed better when you were a kid is it was. What came out in the theater was a completely different cut than was released later. The original premise seemed to be a nuclear threat rather than ecological threat. By the time it was released in video the times had changed alot, we were no longer in the cold war era. It was recut so alot was lost.

I'll give you that. And a bit confusing as we. Interesting scenery.
