Can somebody please tell me if this movie is any good or not?

there's a new book on amazon.com called TELEVISION FRIGHT FILMS OF THE 1970S that talks about this film.

No! It's a stinker. P.U. Alot of talent, wasted. Plus the story is so not factual at all. Fist off, I'm from the area and went through Camille. It was worse than Katrina, being that it was BOTH a water & wind storm. Katrina was a water storm, obviously. The end of this movie actually uses the news footage after the storm, and that tells the real story. Plus the whole Larry Hagman on the boat with the submarine....LOL....the Gulf of Mexico in that area of Mississippi, has a shallow shelf. And the water in that scene was perfectly still. LOL..not hurricane at all. Not to mention the "party"...the apt. building was totally wiped off the map, much like what just happened in Biloxi from Katrina. Anyway, it's a turd.

I saw this on the Weather Channel the other night. It's actually kind of a hoot. The party scenes are sad on many levels that have nothing to do with the hurricane, not the least of which being that Frank Sutton died shortly after filming. The gauzy treatment of Michael Learned and Will Geer is unnerving. The scenes on the boat, where there is apparently no danger, are downright bizarre.

I loved It!

i saw it today on fox movie channel cause i never seen or heard of it before. it wasnt too bad but could have been better. who knew larry hagman and patrick duffy were in this movie and few years later were together playing brothers on dallas. and will geer and michael learned both played on the waltons as daughter and father or father in law.

(some spoilers)..

Personally--I DO think it was worth seeing. Just watched it on YT for the first time in over 30 years!! Admittedly, a bit weak on special effects, but it was NOT weak on the "personal stories" part. I felt bad for the "Hurricane party" fools, especially the young couple that did not really want to be there... The kids trying to communicate with their parents on a boat stranded in the "eye" of the hurricane, running out of fuel and TIME--, the air-force plane trying to figure out a way to rescue this couple...and the father of one of the aircrew also caught in the hurricane...

Also--as for the boat that "was in no danger"--are you KIDDING?? A small boat, radio down, running out of gas--stuck in the EYE of a hurricane...NO DANGER?? Sure...in the EYE--things were "calm", BUT JUST beyond that eye--it was ALL HELL ON EARTH!! The boat HAD to stay RIGHT with the eye as it moved--to avoid being drawn into the "wall of the storm". and of course...finally...it runs out of gas. Here you are--a couple, stuck on a boat--with NO power..about to be drawn RIGHT into a hurricane wall--literally facing DEATH--in just minutes..no HOPE of rescue..and then out of NOWHERE-a SUB pops up, right next to you, to rescue you!! I personally thought that was the BEST "vignette" of this movie...along with the fact that the aircrew that help aid the sub to find them....did NOT make it out of the storm, giving their lives to save the couple.

This is definitely worth seeing. The individual stories are compelling and interesting and many of them are sad. The message crawl on the screen that updates the storm's progress, the real life storm footage will send chills down your spine.
Putting yourself in the place of the characters will help make this movie more emotional for you and I think that will help you enjoy it more. I thought the performances of Michael Learned and Will Geer were very good, as were many others.
