Sadistic smile of Walker: (Sheila Keith)!

Did anyone else notice that when one prisoner was hanged, the smile of pleasure from officer Walker? The one and only great Sheila Keith!!

Sheila Keith was an incredible actress. If you thought she was scary in this, you should see her in "Frightmare" if you haven't already. She was scary as hell.

I was wondering if they were trying to portray Walker as a closet lesbian. Of course, she could have just been sadistic (which she most certainly was), but there were a lot of little things about her performance, like her smile at the sight of the nude female body, that had me wondering. Also that instance right before Anne-Marie tries her final escape, the head wardeness seems to catch Walker bringing something like a glass of water to her. Another instance I never understood was Walker's visit to Anne-Marie in solitary. She showed her something to which Anne-Marie replied in the negative and then Walker left. Last thing I remember was Walker making eyes at Anne-Marie's roommate near the end of the movie when she came to search for Anne-Marie. Anyone think that too?

Just saw it last night.

Very satisfying and well made film and, for me, a lot better than Frightmare, despite the fact that it does not contain Kim 'Best Looking Woman of All Time' Butcher!

Yeah, I'd say Walker was a lezzer. These days that reference would have been rammed down your throat, but I guess they chose to make her underlying desires subtle.

I guess Pete Walker did fear the censors after all!

I've never seen House of whipcord, but want to. I've got Frightmare on DVD and really enjoyed it - mainly because of Sheila Keith's fantastic performance. A digitally remastered edition of 'Whipcord' is making its way to DVD courtesy of Odeon Entertainment, I'll probably pick that up to see it for myself.

I thought that too.
