Creepy

I watched this movie back in the 70's as a little kid on HBO and it was creepy then. Especially the old lady. I vaguely remember some of the scenes, but I will never forget the construction worker catching a ride while standing on a steel beam that was being lifted by a crane and the homebodies sabatoged the crane. Then the cable snapped (I think?) and the construction worker yelling in horror the way down to his death as he hit the ground.

I first saw Homebodies on television back in the 80s when I was a teenager. What a delightful little flick it is. A superb blend of light-hearted comedy and serious thriller. And it serves as an excellent social commentary on the treatment of elderly folks.

Unfortunately, Homebodies itself has been completely neglected, much like the old people it depicted. It hasn't been heard of since its Embassy VHS release, which I'm sure is nearly impossible to find. Whether it gets a DVD/Bluray release in the near future remains to be seen.

Currently, Homebodies is on Youtube. So for those who don't have access to the old VHS tape, now is your chance to see it.

Little people vs the System. Nice to see the little people win now & then.

This movie still haunts me: the old woman with the wheely cart, the foot chop, banging on the agoraphobic woman's apartment, the knife tossed into the garbage compactor, filling the cement hole, the woman sitting at the table with the three liberated city chicks who walk away... And I haven't seen it since it aired on HBO in the 1970s. Yipes!

Yes, it's on YouTube. Very neat little thriller which was very unexpected. If you start watching and know nothing going in, it's quite a revelation. Some serious plot holes, but entertainment plus.
