Deleted scene
Has disney released the scene for this film (the 4th nightmare sequence) or is this another of the gems disney has locked away in the vault forever? Or was it destroyed after being cut?
shareI read somewhere that it's still in the Vaults (it's the one where Mr Hawk is being operated on my a group of 'Herbies' dressed as doctors). Guess it will never see the light of day. That sequence scared me enough when I was a kid, with the sharp teeth Herbie! lol

It would be great to see the deleted "doctor" nightmare. I read at www.lovebugfans.com and the Talking View-Master reel book, about how the scene was going to play out:
Basically, after Hawk falls off the building, he finds himself stretched out on a surgical table. 2 VW "doctors" were examining him and they were having a conversation on taking out his brain. The "doctor" equipped with a wrecking ball and an acetylene torch was going to say "Looks like he's done for, doctor. Let's take his carburetor out and have a look at it." The "doctors" then inched closer to Hawk and then that's when he was supposed to wake up. That's all that I know of the scene. More could've happened in it, who knows?
It's also worth noting that this is the only time in any Herbie film when Herbie has eyes. Both of the cars in this scene had their headlights replaced with moving eyeballs, similar to what would've been used on the Herbies from the Disney parades, back in the 70s.
This scene exists as a still in the GAF View-Master reel set (REEL B, PICTURE 7).
