Excessive Nudity..

I watched this in my Humanities class. It was well made, but be warned, there is one scene with extreme nudity and sexual content. I see why the UK rating was X.

reply

In my opinion, the true obscenity would be in the senseless killings, and not the nudity.

reply

It was rated because of the violence attrocities images, not the nudity. a film about the horrors of war and warmongering, and this fella gets his peeve because of onscreen nudity!!! That's what really disturbed him, the nudity, not the war and violence!! The minds of some people, really!

reply

Are you referring to the nude little girl with her skin melting off? yes, THAT was excessive... I guess looking at it from an Evangelical Baptist point of view, this film is borderline pornography. It amazes me that anyone would come out of this film and be thinking about the nudity contained in a five-minute scene in which a couple of American GIs hire Vietnamese prostitutes (mind you, it never shows more than their uncovered breasts) instead of the scene that immediately follows in which the GIs torch a village.

reply

To the original poster:

I think you better watch this movie again. Try to stop thinking about tits for five minutes and learn what the word 'quagmire' means.

I hope you failed your class.

When I last took a shower, I was ALSO exposed to extreme nudity. I've never been the same again...Want to start an "anti-nudity"-rally?!

reply

very funny, I had the same thing this morning :)
So to all those offended by nudity: do not shower naked,
and especially do not shower naked with your wife or husband!

Anyone who is talking about excessive nudity in a war documentary has completely missed the point. Actually, anyone who has a problem with nudity needs to lighten up (unless it is done to exploit minors). The human body should be embraced, not shunned, geez.

The scene with the naked girl running from her village after it was napalmed is actually one of the most publicized and powerful images to have come from the Vietnam Conflict. It is not placed in there simply to show a naked little girl, it is done to show the effects of war.

bucklandfiddler:

You indeed have missed the point of this film. Although you are British, you are a perfect example of the moral epoch we are living through here in America. On broadcast TV you may kill as many people as you like, but sex is verboten. Your attitude and misplaced sense of offendedness are cousins to the twisted morality that allowed a sham war like Vietnam to go on so long. The same truly perverted morality pervades America today during our present war. Maybe you've played one too many kill-'em-all video games? If you have played too many video games, you may have the idea that killing is nothing more than an abstraction created for your amusement.

Phffft. Nudity. Have you been made sick and twisted because you saw some tits? If anything you should become sick from the violence on display in this film. The only truly rational response, in my opinion, would be to puke your guts out. That, by the way, was the visceral reaction of many of the combat troops in Vietnam. Grow up. Humanities class indeed.

If you are going to watch a film documentary about Vietnam, than it should expose you to the realities of war, which are shocking.

Personally I thought the violence and nudity were perfectly acceptable, as it showed the subject matter in its true light, and did not sugar coat events in any way, shape or form.

Bucklandidiot,

If all u can comment on is about the tits in this movie... then obviously, it's over your head.
