Reminiscent of Bergman's 'Persona'

To me, "Les hautes solitudes" bears a similarity to Ingmar Bergman's "Persona." I found the tone and style very similar, as well as some shots. The only thing is that it is sometimes hard to see exactly what Garrel is getting to without any dialogue or music at all, so it is very open to interpretation. Perhaps that was his intent?

Where have you seen the film? I want to see it badly and wonder where can I get it?

Thanks so much for the link! I'll watch it asap!

PS: Doesn't it have the sound in it at all?

The film is silent (Philippe Garrel had thought about putting Nico's song "You forget to answer" but Jean Seberg thought the film was fine without a soundtrack so it remained silent). Once you watch it, tell me what you think about it! I'm curious to know because the film leaves much space for interpretation and I think it is very much a personal kind of film--you can really project what you want in it.

Jean Seberg and Tina Aumont went to Marrakech to smoke. What exactly? Probably three substances, one of which was tobacco. Garrel shot them getting high and staring off into space a lot. That is about all I gleaned from the film, though it cut off around the 45-minute mark for some reason.
