Most docile cat ever?

I just watched this movie for the first time. Awesome, and it made me cry a river, but i was amazed at how compliant and mellow "Tonto" was. Did they use multiple cats does anyone know? The whole time I was trying to imagine taking my own little high-strung, indoorsy Siamese hitchhiking on a road trip. She definitely wouldn't take it as well.

i don´t know about that film (i mean: i know + love that film, but don´t know if there are more catty actors);
but i´m living with cats since > 20 years, for many years they were 13 the same time, and among those 18 cats was ONE, "dinesh", who would have been able to do that.
she was so uncredible trustingly and uncomplaining and sweet-tempered (?docile?) ... one of those characters one sometimes hear about, which let children put them clothes on and a cap (? bonnet?) and then they lay on the back in a doll's pram. (i don´t have children, so dinesh never was misused that way)
beneath "bach flower remedies" is one for such animals (human + not- human), it´s centaury.

p.s.: all the cats lived with me until their deaths, the oldest became 19 years old. they all were "asylum cats". today there´s only one. (and a dog and rats.)

I always found orange tabbies the best behaved cats, for some reason. And I never met one that was female either. I would have loved to have that cat too.

i was impressed by tonto the docile friendly cat. he let just about everyone hold him. what a nice cat.

He was so cute. Such a nice cat. I loved this movie.

My parents have one now. She has got to have the most blood curdling meow alive. They use to always think the same as you as far as red tabbies went. They had three male red tabbies before their current blood curdling meower.

Had to be an older and well trained cat to behave that well! My cat would never sit still like that!

The best pussy though is the red head that picked Harry up...

I've owned about ten cats in my lifetime, and there was one, a gray male cat named Ashes, that was as friendly and open to new experiences as a dog. When I was a kid he often trotted around the neighborhood with me, stopping to greet everyone he met.

Sadly, he was a little TOO friendly; someone must have thought he was a stray and taken him home, b/c one day he disappeared and we never saw him again. And he was clever enough to get out of the street when there were cars coming, so I'm fairly certain he wasn't run over ... btw, person who took him, if I ever find out who you are, I will shatter every bone in your body.

Well it was good of you to take in the kitten. I've always had a hard time knowing whether to take home a cat I encounter or not. Sometimes you can tell by a collar they must have an owner but once or twice I've seen a cat who is pretty friendly but has matted fur and I have to wonder whether they have an owner or not. This is in a residential neighborhood so I decided against taking cats home with me. My gut has told me they belong to someone.

But the question always remains, what if they are a stray????? It's a tough one to know what to do.

In my old neighborhood, it was the cat's decision, not the owners. My parents had several cats that decided to move next door and several more that decided to runaway to them. None of the cats were mistreated, they just seemed to fit in better with another household. We lost some cats to the same home from which others ran away to come to ours. Their was no animosity between us neighbors. We all just accepted that the cats knew where they wanted to be.

My two guys have traveled a lot and they're both very friendly (though one is a bit shy). Ironically, that seems to have helped them get something out of the experience. The last two times they flew, they had an unbelievable number of people peering into their crate and sticking fingers in the holes and calling to them. The things people do around strange animals. But my guys were so nice about it and so curious about their surroundings that they were able to sleep through most of both trips and seemed pretty perky even at the end. It helped that I jumped through every hoop I could to ensure they had a good trip, including spying on the airport personnel from the plane, to make sure they didn't get abusive. But even so, they did better than I even hoped.

Of course, if they weren't traveling together, it would have been a totally different story--Kitty Meltdown City.

I'm glad they had a good safe trip and that you were able to keep an eye on them. How nice!

There were a few scenes where Tonto was squirming in Harry's arm, wanting to be let down, and I kept thinking, 'Harry' sure knew how to keep Tonto in his arm. My cat always finds a way to maneuver out of my arms!! I can't imagine walking in New York City with my kitty under my arm!!

Not only would my little cat not appreciate all that handling, I didn't appreciate it either.

As I watched Tonto being carried around, I kept getting agitated (probably because my cat has me trained to see any picking-up-of-cats as wrong) and thinking, 'He's a cat. He's probably 100 times more athletic than any of you. He doesn't need you carrying him. Just set him down.'

The OP is right though: that was one cool, mellow cat.

Actually there was one scene where Tonto got a bit uppity that gave me a smile. It was right near the start and Harry was trying to cross a busy street. In that case, carrying him was obviously the right thing to do but I got a little smile from Tonto's little attempted rebellion. But other times, like when they were passing him around as they talked on a pay-phone in the middle of nowhere, Tonto was pretty relaxed about the whole thing but I just kept thinking PUT HIM DOWN!

Very mellow cat. We had an orange tabby when I was little (Frisky) who was like that. Never got violent, even when we dressed him in shorts and a tee-shirt.
