English or Italian

What is everyone's preference while watching this film? (Since the Raro release, anyway, offers both?)

I *believe* it was filmed with the actors speaking in English. But like all (or most) of these Italian post-dubbed films from the era, there seem to be differing opinions as to whether one should watch it in English or Italian with subtitles.

Does anyone know the cast list of voices for both? I imagine Lancaster didn't do the Italian dub--did Berger do the English and Italian? One review I read said that American audiences and critics met the film (when initially shown in English there) with much derision but took to it much stronger years later when shown in Italian with subtitles.

Either way, another brilliant Visconti film, I think. Less known here than his historical pieces, but I'm glad I took the plunge and bought the BluRay.
