Only film I've ever walked out on... and still glad I did.

I was so offended by this film, in so many ways, I walked out. I was only in college at the time, and you'd think I'd be right in tune with it's sophomoric humor, but no.

I found it cheap, juvenile, and worst of all, not the least bit funny.

Wow, talk about easily offended. I mean, perhaps back in it's day it was racy, but today it'd probably get a PG-13 rating. I mean, I'm not offended unless there's graphic animal violence portrayed. Like that God-awful Untraceable movie.

I walked out on Darkness Falls, but only cause the idea where the mother wakes the son up and says, "It's ok it was just a nightmare" and then she gets murdered and they used these really realistic sounding choking sounds. I think that was way too much of a *beep* for them to put in a PG-13 film. I mean PG-13, really if it's not some goofy idiot running around in a ghost mask killing off teenyboppers, it should be rated R.

Anyways, my point is if this film offends you, then I'd say you should stick strictly to Disney movie fare.

PG-13? Come on now. Here's the parental guide:

1) A few minutes into the film a man chases a woman through the woods. The woman tosses off her clothes, showing full frontal and rear nudity (vagina, breasts, buttocks.) The man also removes all clothing, showing full frontal nudity (penis). 2) During a commercial parody, a Woman in underwear strips, revealing full frontal nudity (vagina, breasts) 3) During a sketch about drug dealers, two men walk into a bathroom where a women is sitting on a toilet. The woman briefly shows lower frontal nudity (vagina) as she stands up and dresses herself. 4) During a sketch called "The Sex Olympics" a man and woman are seen having sex. You see rear nudity of the male (buttocks), and full nudity of the female (vagina, breasts, buttocks). 5) In a commercial parody titled "Saftey Sam", male frontal nudity (penis) is seen.

Would you really take a kid under 13 to see this?

You must have been very popular at BYU or Texas State Bible College.

Would I take a kid under 13 to see THIS movie? No, they wouldn't get it. However, why is it OK to show people getting killed, murdered, injured, shot, stabbed, sliced, beaten or eaten by dinosaurs and that can be a PG-13 but show a single flaccid penis and BAM! Rated R. Why is nudity so much worse then violence? Before you go off on me, I am a born in the USA American citizen, but I think the rest of the world is way ahead of us in this respect. What the Hell is wrong with showing the naked human body.

Safety Sam sketch is just a few sets of upside down male genitals, NOT "Full frontal nudity", just the junk. But, no not showing this my kids until they are 13+ at which point they will be too old to think it's funny, shame.

I bet you thought Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie were real comedic relief.

What can I say? Sorry you didn't like what you saw; sorry you missed a bunch of equally funny stuff after you walked out.

Dont recall any vaginas in The Groove tube. Do you mean pubic hair? Maybe some pubic hair. There was a limp weenie with eyes glued to it though.

"Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that"

reply

Agreed. No "vaginas" shown at all, only pubic hair.

Humour is subjective. In this case, I agree with you. The Kentucky Fried Movie was better directed and was a lot funnier. That film had a lot of worthy targets to parody and had a logical flow to it despite the chaos. This film runs out of inspiration and jokes before long. Some sketches just stretch on and on without being funny. I wasn't offended but I was bored by it. Certain gags were repeated over and over and were simply pointless. I know that's the idea but Kentucky Fried Movie had interesting points (admittedly juvenile) to make about its targets. Ken Shapiro thinks he is funny or entertaining, but he isn't.

Your loss. I saw it in 1974 when I was a kid. I just watched it again ... Koko the Clown and Brown 25. Sorry, but it's still funny to me.
