Ya Kinda Had To Be There...

The 1970's....some of the people posting on this board need to
look it up in a book.

Sure it's weird now, the clown bit creeps me out, but seeing the 'The Groove Tube' at a midnight showing was evolutionary.
I was young enough to laugh at all of it.
'Pink Floyd at Pompeii', then 'The Groove Tube' as the 2nd feature.
Or 'Flesh Gordon' and 'The Groove Tube' at a drive-in.

Back in the days when everybody cared about being hip.
Before Keith Moon and John Bonham died. Before some moron shot
John Lennon.

Before most of us turned into our parents and created the world we have now.

I saw this along with Flesh Gordon as a double feature in 1974 with my friend Kenny...I was 10 years old! Can you imagine what that was like? One of my most treasured movie going experiences...I just got the Groove Tube on DVD and it is hilarious...I didn't get the humor when I was a kid, but I just watched it again and could not stop laughing.

Thank god I grew up in the 70's

forgot about Flesh Gordon, I think I saw the same double feature.

"Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that"

I don't think so really. I wasn't even born when this movie was made and I still loved almost every minute of it.

Some kids born in the 70s can find The Groove Tube and Flesh Gordon funny. My son is 35 and has probably not seen either movie, but I'm sure he would love them. I don't think he's lost his sense of humor yet. I haven't seen these movies since the 70s, but I need to watch them again to see if they are as funny if I remember. Then I will suggest he watch them. My daughter is 25 and doesn't "get" the humor in a lot of 70s movies. You either had to have been there or have the right type of sense of humor to enjoy movies like this.

It goes the other way, too. I started the tape rolling at "Heritage Loaf" because he liked to cook; he watched a bunch more (including the PSA) and resolved to buy a copy.

And damn you for creating this joyless world! Of course, it's not your fault directly, but I really am sick of people having no sense of humor. How do these people expect to get through life without their colons backing up and exploding before they turn 40?

Reminds me of some the crazy skits the original SNL cast did.
People would cut off a finger, blood would be squirting madly everywhere.
Bass-O-Matic. Just visceral weirdness.
Emotionally, I'm a pretty button-down person, but some stuff just grabs you by the funny bone and I can't help it.
My Mom was very polite to the point of being up-tight, but she found Airplane! to be hilarious !
