Warren Beatty/Natalie Wood/Robert Redford

That should've been the cast when they made this movie! Beatty is a far better fit as Gatsby with his dark looks. I always thought Redford with his WASPY looks should've been cast as Tom. And of course Natalie Wood would've been just perfect as Daisy. The chemistry between all three would've been fantastic!!

Good ideas. Bruce Dern could be menacing but was too goofy to play Tom Buchanan. And it's easy to imagine Daisy as an older (but not grown up) version of Deanie from Splendor. Mia Farrow played Daisy like a snobby manic pixie dream girl.

I can't see Beatty as Gatsby, and thought Redford was a very interesting Gatsby.

I think of Natalie Wood as being too vibrant as Daisy, not … limp or vapid enough. Who knows though, she might have been able to pull off being a great Daisy. It certainly is an interesting casting choice.
