seeing both the movie and'Eleanor'in 1974

In the year 1974,my best friend moved from my home town of Cerritos,Ca. to Fresno,Ca.Both my younger brother and I took amtrak from L.A. to Fresno to visit he and his family. This was the summer between my 8th and 9th grades. One day we all walked to the local mall.As we got there, people were handing out flyers proclaiming "Come see the new and exciting movie-GONE IN 60 SECONDS! One night only!" We figured,"Why not?".We watched the movie, which was shot in the areas where we all grew up(one day in the future I worked at the Nissan building that you can see in the background from the freeway)After enjoying the movie,as we were exiting into the lobby.sat the very beat up Mustang "Eleanor"
WOW!COOL!I was very car savy at the time because my father was a mechanic(as am I)he owned 2 gas stations.I crawled all over and under that car.I was blown away by the fact that the car was was basically Mustang sheet metal bolted to massive steel tubing. That car was beat to hell.I had never seen this before but this is how they do it in the movies, you learn something new every day. This whole tale shows how low buck this whole movie was.Their whole promo campaign was trailering one of the Mustangs and handing out flyers. This was in Fresno! For a bunch of 12 and 13 yr. old kids it was great. As cheap as it was ,I enjoyed it more that the one starring Nicky Coppola.Tim
