? about new soundtrack

I want this on DVD, but I want the OLD (original) soundtrack. What "title" (such as 20th anniversary edition) would I look for?

Or is the original movie not available on DVD?

reply

As far as I know, all the new DVD releases have the crummy new soundtrack.
If you can find a VHS it should have the original soundtrack.
I know that stinks, I'd like to have the original movie with the original soundtrack also.

Denise Halicki has ruined this movie by changing the soundtrack.

"Denise Halicki has ruined this movie with the crummy new soundtrack."
I couldn't agree more. And why bother making GI60S2? It was horrible, and so was Deadline Auto theft.

I guess I'll have to convert my VHS to DVD myself! I want a DVD because it usually "cleans up" the picture.

Also, I'd really love to see the deleted scenes from the original movie!

And I FELL ASLEEP watching the Nicolas Cage version!

reply

Yeah, the remake just doesn' compare to the original. But what remake does?

I have the DVD and the VHS. The DVD is worth buying though IMO just to see the special features and documentaries. Same for the Junkman.

reply

The new VHS is the same as the DVD, the VHS release from the mid 80s has the original soundtrack

when the old VHS copy I bought (on eBay) arived and I watched for first time (the real way!)I couldn't belive how much better it was!

ps not only is the music different several lines are and in 'The Junkman' theres an entier seen missing! (on the new release)

reply

Can you tell us what scene is missing from the Junkman? Are you refering to the DVD? Thanks.

reply

I'm confused. Did the old VHS release have some songs that were lost or are we talking about the score? Because soundtrack technically means both the songs and the composed background score.

reply

As far as I know only the 70's era score and songs have been replaced by a modern 2000 era score on the new DVD release.

The VHS I own, which was printed in the late 80's, has the original 70's era score and songs, which of course, are different that the DVD.

Previous posters here claim that some dialogue is missing or altered on the new DVD of GI60S and Junkman, to which I am unaware. Perhaps they can elaborate for those of us that are curious to know those exact details.

Thank You

Are you saying they would have had to pay license fees for the music again, just to release this movie onto DVD?

reply

Actually, Deadline Auto Theft was great. A souped-up verson of the original featuring country & western singer and actor Hoyt Axton as Captain Gibbs. He had a real Playboy playmate as his daughter.
People have said the original film was rather amateurish and badly-acted but the extra plot and professional actors in that version removed those criticisms.
Is Deadline Auto Theft on DVD?

reply

Yes Deadlline Autotheft has been officially released on DVD. It also includes Gone in 60 Seconds II, which is actually just the footage that was filmed before Halicki was killed during a stunt in making it. It's not a complete movie but it has a lot of car chase/crash footage. IMO it's worth the money just to see the Slicer.

I'm trying to complete a project in my spare time by taking the audio from the 1982 VHS copy and synching it to the Video from the DVD. The hardest part is trying to keep everything in sync. I don't think the VHS tape was "mastered" correctly. It seems to drift off every 30-40 seconds.

But, If I ever do get it right, It'll be the best of both worlds. Perfect picture with CORRECT soundtrack.

Also, I have a VHS tape I bought at a Video Store clearance, and while it has the "new" soundtrack, it also has MORE alternate/deleted scenes at the end that AREN'T on the DVD including the original (intended) opening scenes!

reply

I actually did this and it worked!!
How did you get on with that?
