Anybody know how wealthy Halicki was?

This is something I have wondered for quite a while. Halicki wrote, produced, directed and starred in Gone in 60 Seconds, so I am guessing he received the lion's share of the profits that the movie made. Gone in 60 Seconds grossed over $40 million in theaters back in '74, and that is equivalent to nearly $200 MILLION today. I know that Mel Gibson ended up making about $300 million (not including DVD sales) off of The Passion of the Christ because he funded the movie himself, just like Halicki did. It was basically 50% of the box office receipts. So my question is, did Halicki end up with a 9-figure (in today's dollars) net worth after Gone in 60 Seconds ended up being so successful? I know he was already a reasonably wealthy man before making the movie, but I want to know just how rich this movie ended up making him.

The only article I could find was regarding the court cases his widow had to fight after his death. The LA Times article claimed that his estate was only valued at $14.7 million dollars in the early 90's. That wasn't all cash either, it was a lot of real estate (one piece of bare land in Palos Verdes accounted for nearly $8 million of his net worth), a huge car collection and a massive vintage toy collection. It also claims that nearly all of that $14.7 million was wiped out because of greedy court battles fought by his siblings (he had 12 of them) and his widow. It seems crazy to me that he had such a small net worth at that point, especially because I imagine that everything he owned, the land, the cars, and the toys, had all appreciated in value quite a bit by the early 90's. Classic cars were just starting to become real collectors items, and land values (especially in California) were exploding. Obviously all of those things would probably be worth 20 times more today than they were in 1993, but still...I can't believe he didn't have a larger net worth.
