One scene I never understood.

The scene in question occurs after sinbad and the crew taunts hauron, and meets with marigiana in the cabin. As soon as he walks in, she grabs a knife from the table and hides it from him. Why does she do this? Does she want to kill him, or did she just steal it from him and want to hide it? If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, i think that Margiana is at that point clearly unaware, why she is on the ship, why sindbad "bought" her. As a slave girl (with a hot body) she fears the worst and grabs the knife to be prepared in case of defending herself. Sindbad notices her fears and tells her that shes free, thats why she let him unwind the knife from her. do you agree?

That really does make sense. She really does not know what to expect of sinbad. For all she knew He could have been a brute who would take advantage of her at any Time. I mean , the audience knows he is good but she does not. Thanks that really clears this scene up! I also agree that marigiana is very hot , though her attire makes me question what exactly she was a slave for ;-)

i just watched this great film again last night.. i think they were trying to imply that though she has been a slave girl, she was still 'pure' (thus a suitable partner for Sinbad at the end), and was willing to try to defend that purity if she had to.

ok, maybe not very realistic, but we're talking about a movie with statues that come to life to dance and fight so it doesn't really matter!
