My favorite of the pre-1985 series
Great monster fight, surprisingly-good FX, an interesting new monster to play with, and that rocking Gene-Krupa-esque sound track; best of the bunch, to me (except for the original, but I don't count that movie as part of the 'series').
Still, it also wins the prize for Most Ridiculous Place for Godzilla to Appear: a warehouse. How the ding-dong bell did Godzilla wind up inside a warehouse? You'd think they might have noticed him when they were building it. The iceberg in King Kong vs Godzilla? Unlikely, but there was continuity to the previous film. The mountain/cave in Godzilla vs The Sea Monster? The cave entrance was nowhere near big enough to admit him, but maybe part of it collapsed during an earthquake.
But a WAREHOUSE?
