Fair enough but Jackie was shocked at what she saw and freaking out mainly from that. I think she was shocked to the point of weakness at her boyfriend (although a geek) laid out with his brain removed and her sister and mother having a feast on his corpse. Also, her father stood in the doorway so she couldn't get out, I don't know if he wanted to her dead or he was just as shocked as Jackie was.
What I want to know is, does anyone have a family that you just keep away from in your community. Rural Surrey sure was creepy. I just wonder if there was at least one crazy family out there.
The father may not have "wanted" her dead but I think it's made clear that he will do whatever it takes to cover for his wife, even if that means sacrificing Jackie. He tried to make her leave earlier and didn't want her to go upstairs but she did anyway so you know he's not going to move out of the way of the door or do anything to help Jackie out.
