cuts??

what was cut from the original american theatrical release and video release??

reply

This is just my opinion, but the US Video release seems to be uncut. I would guess there were cuts made to the R rated version that played theaters. The VHS does not look like it would have passed the MPAA rated R. There are rumours that there is a harder version but no real evidence has ever surfaced to suppport this. The only other known home video release is from Germany and it contains the same content ( although letterboxed, and it looks much nicer ).
I just watched the US version again and did not notice any abrupt cuts, but can't be 100% certain. It's possible there is an Italian version that runs longer too, but for now, it's up in the air until one pops.

I don't think the distributors did anything to the English version and I doubt that Gorgon would have cut anything themselves. If its missing explicit scenes found in the Italian/German etc releases I think it has to be considered at least a self-censored version of the film. Like, they simply prepared an alternate less raunchy version for English audiences knowing that the hard (ahem) prints would just end up being cut.

Bob Monell considers the Gorgon tapes to show a cut print and that's been good enough for me, though I have never seen anything but Gorgon's tape with my own eyes and am not sure if he has seen anything else. I will ask him, this movie has always fascinated me and I would like to know more.

I have a fan version at home I will watch tonight.
It uses the lbx German VHS and layers the English dub track onto it...if the German print turns up any surprises, I will come back and post about it.
