Like most Bunuel movies, this is IMHHO a fantastic film

Like most Bunuel movies, this is IMHHO a fantastic film! - But: I never understood the sniper scene!
Everything else is related, and pops up again. The fox, the ostrich, the picture from the beginning, you name it.
But those minutes with the sniper have always left me unsettled. And I saw this movie a dozen times over.
To me, everything in this movie flips forth and back, and everything sits in a puzzle like the piece that just fits.
But the sniper, no. I agree, he loves dogs very much (but not men), in the end his death sentence is executed by releasing him; all this makes at least some sense to me. Though I fail to see how this fits into everything else.
