2 Cents

I would have to say that this film deserves its low rating. However, it has inspired me to learn more about this odd couple! I have always loved the Great Gatsby and never read anything else by Fitzgerald. I am now equally interested in Zelda. Here I go to the library!

LOL, when I read your post title, I thought you were going to say you paid 2 cents for the DVD. (I just got it at a charity tag sale for a quarter.) 😉

I haven't started watching it yet but I can tell from the cover it's going to be cheesy. I have the Digiview Productions edition. As I was removing the shrink wrap, I realized the photo on the cover is not from Last of the Belles at all; it's actually a still from another made for tv film starring Richard Chamberlain called The Woman I Love (1972). I recognized it right away because I know Faye Dunaway played Wallis Simpson to Chamberlain's Edward VIII in that film. What a c0ck-up!

Here's an image of the cover:

Your story and that accompanying image are too funny! Crazy what happens when films slip in to the public domain, eh? Speaking of that, nice to see this one is available via the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/F.ScottFitzgeraldAndtheLastOfTheBelles#).

Yes, and it also happens when they're still under copyright! 😃
Glad you enjoyed my post; it makes the effort worthwhile.

Thanks for responding.

If you're interested in seeing the Dunaway-Chamberlain film about Wallis & Edward, it's uploaded on youtube in six parts. The quality is very poor, both sound and video, but at least you'll be able to watch it. Links:
