How many Emmanuelle movies does there need to be?!

I think i can answer this: For the French "Emmanuelle" series, there are are 4 legitimate films, filmed with big budgets and featuring the actress sylvia Kristel. Emmanuelle 5 and Emmanuelle 6 are also considered real films, but star different beautiful women as emmanuelle. They are legitimate films. for the "Black Emanuelle" films from Italy, starring the beautiful Laura gemser, there are 7 films with Gemser as Emanuelle. Of course you then have the rip off films that changed their names after the stars became famous, to cash in on the emanuelle success. A word of warning; the Italian "Emanuelle" films are rougher fare than the french series, featuring violent rapes, and sometimes even beastiality and hardcore penetration; they were a bit more of the shock cinema types, although they are mostly very beautifully and artistically filmed as well, with some of the best music ever recorded for film!

You actually forgot some--"Emanuelle's Revenge", "Emanuelle and Lolita", "Emanuelle and Francoise", "Emanuelle's Silver Tongue", "Emanuelle in Egypt", "Divine Emanuelle" and the very first "Io, Emanuelle". I also think some of these like "Emanuelle Goes Greek" and "Mavri Emanuelle" are the same movie.

As for which are the best, it's a matter of opinion, but they're all very different. I HATE the ones after about 1988 because they're very Americanized with a lot of silicone-breasted American bimbos having very long softcore sex scenes to vomit-inducing music, but if that turns you on. . . On the other hand, the original "Emmanuelle" and it's sequels before 1988 (all spelled with two "m's") are the kind of arty, classy, very French films you'd watch with your girlfriend (or boyfriend).

My favorite though are the "rip-off" usually Italian-made movies from the 70's and 80's spelled "Emanuelle" (to avoid lawsuits). These are sleazy grindhouse films, that usually involved director Joe D'Amato and/or Eurasian actress Laura Gemser, and that have plots about "snuff" movies, horse masturbation, cannibals, etc. They would wilt the erections of most Friday night Cinemax masturbators who like the post 1988 Americanized films and have the arty, French film fans of the Sylvia Kristel films running for the exits screaming. To paraphrase the late Hunter S. Thompson, I wouldn't recommend this kind of sleaze to anyone,but it's always worked for me!
