unfulfilled careers

roundtree, bulold, gortner and principal never became the big stars that people thought they would become..they all kept working, except for gortner, but they never took off

reply

Principal was on Dallas. That was HUGE! Gortner was still working if you check his IMDB, but his fame came from his early childhood. He actually starred in a movie with my ex brother-in-law called the Survivalist.

dallas was over a quarter of a century ago..she never established herself as a movie actress..by the mid 90s she was doing maeup infomercials

reply

Victoria Principal had a nice 8-yr run on Dallas. She was something special to look at in her prime.

reply

VP had a bad plastic face job done.
Could be why she didn't get any offers.

reply

So you're an idiot. Bujold was in a lot of major motion pictures for awhile, Principal was also in a bunch of major films and many TV shows, Gortner had a massive media career as a televangelist and then a b movie career.

Even major actors sometimes only have 10 year careers, not everyone can be a superstar, they only make so many blockbusters per year.

reply

Oh, and of course Blacktree was the MAJOR black star during the Blaxploitation years. You seem to know nothing.

reply

Fyi Bujold was already an established movie star. .. she had starred in 1969 in Anne of the 1000 Days. An academy nominated film.

Blacktree? Richard Roundtree perhaps?

reply

I can certainly understand why this Gortner guy didn`t become a big star, with his ridiculous voice and sort of bizarre looks. And Roundtree didn`t really seem to have had much range as an actor (of course, that also applies to many other actors who `did` have a sustained high profile career, so I guess it does have something to do with the breaks, as well). Bujold did have a fairly solid time near the very top for about 20 years, though.
