Was the inspector supposed to be Irish? I thought it was an Irishman playing an American and his Irish would slip through occasionally, until I learned the actor was American. If so then that's a really half-hearted attempt at an Irish accent.

One of the highlights of the film. It helps make George the great and likeable character he is.

George 'LIKEABLE'??? I think we saw two different movies. He starts off as rude and obnoxious and then gradually gets worse. He just demands a lift and then even drives her car when he's only just met her! Then for the next hour he exclusively drives her car with no protests from her for the next hour of the film!!! If that's likeability I think you've got it warped. He's a raving sexist.
If you notice how he talks to characters who he's only just met he's frequently quite the rude moron and gets their backs up. Just look at the poor garage mechanic scene ("don't bugger me abbbbbbbaaaaaatttttt") and the woman who runs the hotel for evidence, let alone how he speaks to police or the woman in the petrol station.
The only funny thing about him is his ridiculous dubbing accent which couldn't be more fake cockerrneeeey if he tried. I couldn't wait for a zombie to get him, but I admit at the end I was quite saddened at his sudden and shocking demise. Very Night of the Living Dead that after all he'd been through!
"an don' buggah me abahhht"
Class! I use this phrase as often as I can.
Haha, I love that line. I think his voice is one of the things that make the film.

It was like some bizarre Irish/Brooklyn hybrid.
