Blu Ray restores and then ruins credits sequence!

Sadly, despite restoring the 'Manchester Morgue" credit sequence, BU have made an appalling error on the soundtrack and removed all the 'whoop 'whoop 'whoop' sound effects that (getting ever faster and louder) accompany the green circles flying into the picture...as well as removing the great 'slamming crunch' sound effect as the title rips across the screen.

The title sequence on the Blu Ray is thus almost silent and lacks all the power it had. Dreadful error!

And no one seems to have noticed either! Not even so called professional reviewers on DVD/BD sites!

Nobody mentions it because ut really isn't a very big deal simple as that. Besides that one small flaw BU delivers a terrific edition of a cult classic.

Just be thankful the movie is even out on BD since I'm sure there are far other movies BU could release that would sell a lot better. As much as I loved Anchor Bay back in the late 90s and early 2000s after a while all they did was release and re-release Halloween and the Evil Dead. Same editions half the time with maybe a new cover.

BU didn't mess up with the transfer as the BD looks excellent; it wasn't improperly framed (see Paramount's Deluxe Edition DVD and BD for Friday the 13th).

So its a minor flaw with the opening titles.

Darling, you can't rape a townie.

It is a big deal. Thanks anyway.

Most people don't care...because they simply don't care full stop. Their loss. Their shame.

Fo me, who first saw this film in the Video Nasty days, the loss of sound on that part was something I cared about as it was a strong memory (as I only had the 'Sleeping Corpses Lie' credits on DVD before) of a strong and memorable moment in the film. I guess I care about the film more than most then.
I'm glad.

And that has nothing to do with whether or not I should 'give thanks' for it being on BD.
I do.
But I would give more thanks if they took the time to correctly transfer the film!!!
And wanting something I buy to not have bits missing is actually the normal thought process.

I agree with you FortySecondStreetFreak. It should have had those sound effects. I assume you talk about the 7.1 remix? Have you checked the Mono and Dolby Digital 5.1 EX tracks to see if the sounds effects are there?

Sadly, it's the same on all the mixes.

I agree with you 100% about Blue Underground dropping the ball. As fantastic as it is to finally have some of these classic cult films on DVD, that doesn't mean the little details can be forsaken. Most of us who love these movies have a strong nostalgic attachment to them, and there are specific things about them that carry great significance. For instance, when Happy Birthday To Me was released on DVD in 2004 with the opening-credit music replaced with something completely different, there was outrage among fans, and for very good reason. Those details MATTER . . . they're not "minor." It irritates and offends me when people say "just be grateful it's even on DVD at all." NO! I'll be grateful if the DVD is done properly. If it's not going to be done the right way, why bother at all. Anyway, I love LSCL . . . it scared the hell out of me as a little kid when I saw it under the title "Don't Open the Window." Classic film. Great memories.

I also agree. They shouldn't alter films!
