Did they use a real shotgun?

The church scene where the policeman shoots the zombies shortly before getting eaten. He fires what looks like a double barrel shotgun. I'm not convinced it's genuine, as the barrel diameter looks very small, and the length way too long.
So for the record, was this a real shotgun?
