The subject matter of this movie isn't as far fetched as you'd think if you believe the testimony of former military and civilian contractors that have come forward for years now. They tell of encounters with intelligently controlled craft that display characteristics well beyond current technology.

The testimony has been heard during more than one presentation at the National Press Club. After these encounters come varying degrees of threats to stay quiet, what they saw being matters of national security. What the movie shows is pretty extreme but does sound similar to what happened at Rendlesham Forrest. There are books with these incidents too. One being Disclosure: Military and Government Witnesses Reveal the Greatest Secrets in Modern History by Steven Greer which has the testimonies of over 5 dozen former military, government and civilian contractors. Another book is UFOs and Nukes Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites by Robert Hasting.

So if you are interested in the subject matter, there are 'real' stories of UFO encounters that the military hushed up. Truth is stranger than fiction? Maybe.

I don't know about the Government heshing things up, sized-2 -- I think they don't know what to say about it but do not want to look like a bunch of rubes.

Many people never see anything unusual because they never look up or proceed to deny in their minds anything unusual they might have caught. Only later, for various reasons, do some admit to seeing something they could not explain.

What might those things be? Hard to say. Over the years we've stuck on the term "UFOs", "Flying Saucers" before that but they've been called many other things in the past.

I have a copy of this title on VHS that my brother gave me. I've not seen it before and look forward to viewing it soon.

By the way the Rendlesham case yu mention is very intriguing. The Hudson Valley and so-called "Phoenix Lights" testimonies are also credible.

FYI, what the SID "authorities" were doing (to the 412 crew) at Digger base is called "Gaslighting". Look it up on Wikipedia.

Too bad that the crew didn't have the presence of mind to insist that their captors:

(a) present their questions in writing, then

(b) give them typewriters & lots of blank paper so they could (individually) write out their own accounts of the incident, with each page signed, dated, and witnessed.

I think the men were too shocked at the way they were being treated by their own government - the one that was supposed to be on their side.
