'Julie' in the final scene? - spoilers -

Why does one of the girls call the nun "Julie" when the kids are
getting ready to leave at the end?

It was the nun that slit Rick's throat right?

"Julie" may have been her actual name. If you look closely, the "real" nun accompanying the kids is seen being smashed about when the van crashes at the very beginning and was likely killed. Her identity is assumed by one of the little maniacs, who insists on being referred to as "Sister Hannah" while in the nun costume. That is not the girl's real name.

Also, the ending sequence was filmed at least twice, once by original director Sean MacGregor and again by co-director David Sheldon after MacGregor had left the project. One of the results were continuity errors between the usable footage MacGregor had filmed and the re-shots that Sheldon directed. If you look carefully you'll even see that in some shots of the endings it appears the sunlight window is open and snow is falling into the room. Then the scene changes abruptly with no snow falling into the room, and my suspicion has been that MacGregor had filmed a slightly different version of the ending that was deemed unacceptable. In his version "Julie"'s identity may have been unmasked earlier, hence Moe referring to her by a different name than "Sister Hannah".

But Sister Hannah is not the girl's actual name. She was absolutely insane and yes, she cut's Rick's throat.

I heard the commentary on the DVD and one of the actresses mentions the snow in the scene is there to make it all seem surreal and dream like. Then the snow melts to reveal the real Horror of all the murders by the children.

But yes she wasn't a real nun and obviously Julie was her real name. That's what I got from it at least.

Julie is the name of Rick's wife who get's killed second to last. The kid who was calling herself Sister Hannah assumes her identity after she's dead. Presumedly there was a real Sister Hannah in the van and the kid's particular "thing" is she assumes the identities of people she kills.
