The role of omniscient narrator in Henry James

Henry James allows a story to unfold from the interior monologue of an omniscient narrator. Not understanding that omniscient narrator, who is oftentimes an unseen actor in the story, is to oftentimes miss a subtlety of a Jamesian novella.
