Innovation


From Senses Of Cinema jumped up the following statement by critic David Thomson: "Celine & Julie is the most innovative film since Citizen Kane... whereas Kane was the first picture to suggest that the world of the imagination was as powerful as reality, Celine & Julie is the first film in which evething is invented".

I get the principle of the world being a continuously spun narrative, but still - how is one to understand this "everything"? Celine & Julie invented themselves? Or are we back by that cat that´s been speculated to have dreamt it all up? And who invented the cat?

That´s all pretty complicated here...
