A masterpiece that deserved better.

Yeah, Coonskin deserved better than it got. Ralph Bakshi himself said Coonskin was "choked" and I can only imagine the film's release in a perfect world where people understood what it was all about as far as the story and satire goes. And considering how hot Bakshi was with two hit films behind him (Fritz the Cat & Heavy Traffic), audiences might've been rather excited to see it. And just imagine in the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature existed then. It seems Bakshi was always getting the short end of the stick.
