No longer available from Netflix?!

This was at the top of my queue, but now is listed as "Unavailable" and was moved to my saved queue.

Anyone know what happened here? Film go out of print and the remaining copies in Netflix inventory can no longer support it available for rental?

I've never had a film go unavailable before.

I was frustrated by this as well. Netflix will occasionally lose the rights to certain films, but given that COCKFIGHTER is in the public domain (at least I think so), I'm not certain if it was a rights issue. I guess it's possible that Corman's New World Pictures has reclaimed the rights to the film and will be releasing it in a new edition, an act that may have required Netflix to pull their version from the queue. I ended up finding a public domain issue of the film on DVD for $1 in a cut-out bin. It has a weak transfer (not as bad as many public domain releases, however), but at least I was able to see the film.

Most likely all copies were "lost in the mail" or stolen and re-sold since the price is so high on the re-sale market for this. A lot of soulless scavengers out there.

Well, for what it's worth, it's currently available for Streaming through Amazon Prime (hell, I finally just saw it myself that way the other day), and since Streaming-- and not dealing with actual media that can go OOP and be stolen-- doesn't cost the studios anything to manufacture, you might try calling the customer service number on your Netflix account to request that they do the same for this.
