I laughed so hard when patrice slapped frances & he said"what you hit me for you sonofabitch?!"

when charles inadvertanly tells claudine about charlene's pregnancy & says"good night GRANDMA."

then tells roop,"you got some cool whores living here."

it's funny but i wonder why partrice slapped frances for saying that? hahahaaaa.

When Claudine is talking to her pregnant daughter and her daughter says "Black men have made a lot of positive contribution." "Frederick Douglas, W.E.B Dubois." Then Claudine says "It's too bad you didn't get your ass knocked up by Frederick Douglas!"

I saw this film in the theatre, and saw (most of) it tonight the on Retro channel. I like the scene in which JEJ is so upset about getting the child support notice, that he angrily rushes through dinner prep for DC, and then sits down and shovels food into his mouth. Then he breaks down and cries. I always remembered that scene, because he so accurately portrays what it's like to be upset and to be doing something else, badly and barely aware that you're doing it.

I missed this part of the movie tonight, but really, isn't the best line the one delivered by DC's friends on the bus, that she's in need of some "Vitamin F?" Great line!

about the vitamin f. took me a few watches before I caught that. I recorded it from fmc. & it's not captioned. sure is a good line.

When the welfare case worker asks Claudine if she's sure that $2.50 is all that she gets from her male companion, and Claudine cleverly questions the case worker on how much she gets from her man.
