Is so beautiful in this movie that its distracting. But this is a great movie. I wasn't raised around this time and I wanted to know is that what ppl had to go though to get welfare benifits? Were they as intrusive as they are potrayed in the movie, for example, did they actually want to know if you had a man or not?

I can remember, back in the day, when welfare workers actually DID come to your house and check it out. The lady who lived next door to us was on welfare, and she had to hide some of the stuff she had bought because she didn't want them to see it and take her off food stamps. They usually came when someone had tipped them off that a man was coming around or staying there on and off. Things have certainly changed since those times.
