Too bad Roman Polanski is a massive pedo
The girl that Polanski was involved with forgave him. As much as a girl of thirteen can know, she knew what was she was doing. That's of course a huge topic, but she and her mother wanted her to be in pictures and they practically served her up on a platter to the director. It was a very different time, and Polanski himself was a complex individual, and a major artist in his medium who in the end was willing to surrender to the police and take his punishment like a man. He also understood that they had a deal worked out, but then the Judge went back on his own deal, more interested in his own fame than he was in actual justice. Again, the girl who was at the center of this said she knew the judge did not give a damn about her, or Polanski, he just wanted to be the big man and make the papers. Polanski's fleeing the country is as much about the corrupt judge as it is about his own crime.
There is an excellent HBO produced documentary on the whole affair, and no one comes out clean in the end.
