Cornelia Sharpe married Martin Bregman, a very powerful producer and he may (or may not) want this on a DVD. I agree, I'd love to see this again, not for the early part, but when William Holden dispense justice.

I agree. This taut, gripping and unjustly overlooked thriller is long overdue for a proper Region 1 DVD release. Code Red or Dark Sky Films are my two ideal choices to give this baby the much-needed Special Edition DVD treatment.

Word. Very odd that it has been overlooked when other movies with content far more prurient or questionable have been resurrected in entirety for the DVD era complete with theatrical re-releases.

The unfortunate staged violence against animals in the hunting sequence may be an issue, but there's Cannibal Holocaust, Heaven's Gate, Patton, Charge of the Light Brigade and other more high profile films with much more explicit onscreen animal abuse which have been given full studio/rights holder authorized DVD treatments.

I've often wondered if the music score rights could also be a problem. Not just for the incidental score but that hideous main theme. Somebody somewhere probably has the rights to it and a DVD would likely be a profitable release just for the now A-list names in the cast.

Just an admirer with no insider angle, but I seriously doubt the motivation to keep it obscure is related to any controversy about subject matter or concern by a cast member with clout. More likely a straightforward legal matter related to money and Columbia Pictures having gone out of business.
