I agree with the OP - 4/10. This weird little oddity is neither fish nor fowl. Neither horror, nor real black comedy. I think it's significant that some of the still images from the film are better known than the film itself.
Peter Weir really hit his straps the next year with the brilliant Picnic at Hanging Rock. 🐭
