Syd James

Syd looked very poorly in this film. His health was obviously not at its best.

At the time this movie was filmed, Sid, Barbara Windsor and several other cast members were performing twice-nightly at the Victoria Palace Theatre in the stage revue "Carry On London". This was on top of a heavy filming schedule at Pinewood Studios during the day, so naturally it would have taken it's toll on them.

Hiya,
I liked this film but as you say Sid was not at his fittest or best.
It was always great fun to work on the series and you knew the cast and crew would make you welcome for the couple of weeks you were on the set.

Becoming an Extra..
It depends on where you live (I lived in London)so it was easy to get to most of the studios within an hour.
Buy a newspaper called The Stage and sometimes there's ads for extras all over the country. That way you can try it and see if you like it. I'm still a member of Equity after more than forty years.
Read my web and it shows how I did it....

Good luck and let me know how you get on....

Love this film. One of my favourite Carry Ons. Shame some of the cast were being worked to death .
