'Captain Kronos' and 'North by Northwest'

Did anyone else notice that Laurie Johnson's score for "Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter" bears a more than slight resemblance to Bernard Herrmann's score for Alfred Hitchcock's 1959 classic, "North by Northwest" (and with a few strains of "Psycho" here and there)? Makes for interesting comparison, to hear these soundtracks back to back.

Lastly, why does "Kronos" have a 1972 copyright at the beginning of the film, but a release date of April, 1974? That's quite a delay for a completed movie.
