Who thinks these vampires are cool and different?

No drinking blood but energy

It was an interesting movie and has a great commentary track on the DVD. Caroline Munro is beautiful and witty.

I agree. A number of posters on here have complained that they did not stick to traditional vampire lore, but I thought it was a fresh, unique take on the vampire legends, more like a fairy tale than a horror film, and that's a compliment. The black-robed, faceless, wraith-like vampires were easily as creepy as the usual caped, fanged, white-faced bloodsuckers.

I also liked that they did not attempt the usual lap dissolve transformations when the victims aged into wrinkly, dried-up corpses, but just did it with cuts, which was just as convincing and less obtrusive. Marvelous atmosphere and production design and well-done sword fight ending. My only (small) complaint is that I could have done with a little more action and swordplay throughout (it moves just a bit slowly), and I certainly wouldn't have minded a little more skin from Ms. Munro, but the film is really near perfect as is.

Yes, I loved how unique these vampires were. I typically like classic style vampires and don't like when they change them too much, but in this film I think the changes really worked out and fit the story perfectly.

And do you think the vampires in this movie are better than ones that glitter in the sunlight if you know what i mean right?

"*beep* the law, i want meat"-Nightbreed.

You think trying something new & different is cool, then you bash Twilight for trying something new & different? TBH anyone who bashes Twilight for the glitter in the sunlight is an idiot, read the books, watch the movie, & bash Twilight for being bad films. I dont like them at all. & not just because of the glitter. I've never read the books,& I never will, so I wont even comment on them.

But in my own personal opinion on vampires, glittering in the sunlight is just as dumb as absorbing energy instead of drinking blood. Absorbing energy is what a succubus does.

Well the hunchback assistant did said there is more than one common garden variety bloodsucking vampire you know from Bram Stoker as there are many species of vampires in legends like one who suck youth instead of blood.

Psychic vampires who suck energy/lifeforces out instead of blood are usually known in Asian vampire mythology. There are some who can withstand sunlight like Egyptian vampires for example.
