Couldn't somebody cut that version from the original negative, so it could look as good as Kidnaped does on dvd? Come to think of it, let's have a BlueRay of the Rabid Dogs version. Also better that they cut off the odd opening son Lamberto shot, which was on the first dvd release. Completely out of style.
I actaully saw the Kidnapped version first, and I really appreciated the film not knowing that there were two versions, one of which had completed scenes by Lamberto. While I'll most likely put on Rabid Dogs over Kidnapped, I did feel that those scenes with the woman made the plot twist more surprising. In Rabid Dogs, it feels like it comes out of left field, but in Kidnapped, it is set up and it does have this element of subverted expectations, because I thought that woman was the hostage's sister, not the litte boy's mother.

I also saw KIDNAPPED first, and I actually prefer it over RABID DOGS, though RD still really delivers; especially if you saw that version first.
Shows that with a great script, right actors and locations, you don't need tons of money.

Does anyone else have any opinions on which version is superior? I saw Rabid Dogs last night and will watch the kidnapped version tonight. I have to say Bava was indeed ahead of the times as this could have been made today. Great soundtrack and George Eastman is a beast here as usual.
sharei've seen the kidnapped version and skimmed through the rabid dogs version on youtube - are there any other differences apart from the replaced score and scenes with the woman on the phone? the latter i found unnecessary, but i think i might prefer the kidnapped score as it's less obtrusive.

not sure if this is a fan made intro, because it's neither the intro from the kidnapped nor from the rabid dogs version.
I know my dvd has 2 versions but I think I’ve only watched one. I’m going to have to go check out the link and compare.
