Did this movie actually have a plot?

I've never been particularly good at seeing the hidden meanings in movies but all I saw was a couple guys with different perspectives on gambling who got together and affected each other.

The ending I *totally* didn't get - he won a lot of money why was he so mad? *What* didn't mean a ****ing thing?

What did I miss?

And I don't think it does have much of a "plot" to speak of. What would it need that for?

it's a 70s film where the plot is really an experience
