I have been trying to find a movie for quite some time that my husband remembers from his youth. The only things he remembers unfortunately are that he tought Martin Sheen was in the movie, it involved a hot car, and for some reason they parked the car under a football field at some point in the movie. Can anyone tell me if this is the same movie? It was the only one I saw in the search that made much sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think that was "Catch Me if You Can", not to be confused with the newer movie by the same name. This guy was street racing a Chevelle to raise money for the school and the car got messed up by the bad guys. The school principal was once a street racer himself and had burried his '57 chevy under the football field, so it was resurected to continue racing. Don't remember any of the actors, but I'm pretty sure Martin Sheen was not in this movie.

I don't think it was a movie of the week. I think I remember it playing at the cinema...kind of a cheap-o teen flick.

That isn't it, wendil4501. You're thinking of Hot Rod (1979) which has that plot.
It is a fun movie, however.
