I've just ordered the Danbury Mint model of The Kid. It's a bit tricky to get hold of now because it's ceased production, but if anyone's interested the UK arm of the Mint still has some brand new ones. Check the website.
It seems that the Mint has produced a model that reflects The Kid not too many years after the filming; i.e. the steel wheels have been replaced again by Halibrands, yet they haven't done it so late as to include the updated antenna and so forth, yet it still has the JDV license plate from the movie. So a bit of a hybrid, really, although all the reviews of the model I've read say that it's one of the best the Mint have ever done.
Okay, I've pushed my already into-the-red credit card bill into deep crimson by ordering the model, but let's face it, as I have actually sat in The Kid for photos and having met Pete and Jake for real, how could I possibly NOT own this model?
