Fake side hanger exhausts

When Mike pulls up to Lyles house on the day of the funeral, you can clearly see that the exhaust pipe are not connected to the engine.
Talking of the car, my dad told me that the guy who built the car for the film sold it after shooting. He didnt bank on the success of the film and tried, unsuccessfully, to buy it back. I dont know if this is true or if the car still exists.

Is she the one with all that *beep* in her face? No man, thats my wife!

The 1934 Ford can be seen at Pete and Jake's Hot Rod Parts in Peculiar MO, south of Kansas City on 71 HWY. Stop in and see it if your in the area.

Quite correct. The car certainly still exists; although I live in the UK I was priviledged to see it many years later on its tour of the UK. I even got to sit in it and have my photo taken with Pete and Jake.

It's recently been immortalised as a Danbury Mint model- which I've just taken delivery of- which is darn good, if a bit weird: the JDV607 plate it wore in the film is there, though it isn't The Kid's real license plate, and it also features Halibrand wheels which it didn't have in the movie- would have been nice if they'd offered the steel wheels and '56 Ford hubcaps option. Also, the mounts for the shocks on the model are far lower than they should be (below the scrub radius, in fact) but the model is still a good one. Expensive, yes, but you can sort of see where the money's gone.

Oh, and a note to the Danbury Mint- it would have been better if you'd chrome-plated the wheels because The Kid's wheels are shiney. Original magnesium Halibrands they may be, which I know tarnish very quickly, but they've always been polished up on The Kid.
