I would love to see a remake!

As an aspiring screenwriter/filmmaker, I would love to remake this, or even just see someone else remake it.Plus it would bring some attention to the original which is an amazing film. The time period and location could be changed, but the story could remain the same and could be done on a very low budget. I'd be there opening night.

I'll be there on opening night too, if you cast Ryan Phillippe as Buster and recreate the infamous nude scene, so we can all see his fat naked shlong swinging through the trees...

When Majors are going to release it to DVD..????

I think people remake films because they lack talent and can't make their own history. It is riding other's coat tails.

I would *NOT* like to see a remake. I think Vincent totally captures the essence of his charactor, the girl was perfectly unknown and seems to blossom...there is a purity and innocence about this film. Moving the time period I also disagree with. It was the time period that made the behavior of Billie so reproachable, and the stand Buster makes in coming out publicly with her (at church) so powerful. This film is a timeless classic. This film needs to be restored and released on DVD, not remade.

I'd love to see a remake too, but I agree with sunfloweriii that the period and setting need to be the same. If it was modernized, people would be wondering why Margie was refusing to give it up in the first place.

Alas, earwax!!

Another reason I would like to see a remake is to give the original some more attention and maybe get it released on dvd. I watched this with my mom when I was very young, but alot of my friends who are movie buffs have never heard of it. I got a dvd copy of it that someone transferred from vhs on ebay.

It doesn't make sense to me that this should not be a well known movie as it was important for the year, it was an amazing performance by a gorgoeus JMV, and it is a very memorable film...I am confused. There is something wrong with the system and we need to make it heard--this film is a forgotten treasure!

I could not agree more. The scene at the end when Jan walks in the bar from the darkness outside still gives chills. And the Music is amazing. BRING ON THE DVD!!!!!!

Why? Why a remake?!? Why can't you just watch the movie as it is? This is why movies of today suck. Hollyweird relies on remakes because it has no imagination or creativity.

There's nothing wrong Buster & Billie. It's great movie, and I'll keep watching it.

reply

Absolutely...It's based on 1940's Ga and it does well by that fact with very authentic characterization.

Also, people don't seem to realize that often it's the actors themselves and the chemistry between them that really makes a film so special.
Remakes most often lose this magic.
